Holiday - celebrate!! - 1st November 2009

I know, I know - I live in the sunshine of North Africa, and here I am getting excited about the sunshine that awaits us in South Africa. Can't help it, there is a world of difference between the two, and I'm looking forward to our holiday in Cape Town next week. We will return to Saidia on the 10th December, but we will have some e-mail access while we are away, so if it is urgent, we will do our utmost to assist. Our colleagues will be looking after things while we are away, so everything is in safe hands.

This week has been slightly less busy than of late on the work side of things. We've had a few owners over checking out their properties and setting up furniture and utility room window installations. Plus a range of people that have asked us via the website to take a look at alternative properties for them, as their AP5 places are being delayed even longer. This task is of real interest for us, as we get to see other properties at the 'start'. Some are good, some are bad, some are horrendous! I would like to point out to people that the aspect of a property is quite important here, as it makes quite a difference to how much sun your 'place in the sun' will receive.

Many people have asked for individual plot updates, so I've taken the time to take a good look around, and here is what I have found to be the state of play as of today: Golf course - October 2009 VVT4 - November 2009 The Greens - October 2009 RT2 - October 2009

  • AP2, AP4 and AP6 are all completed, and are receiving regular gardeners and handymen on site to fix bits and pieces here and there. There are quite a few of these properties that now have year round or long term tenants living in them.
  • H1 - Barcelo and H5 - Iberostar Hotels are also finished, but are now undertaking outstanding snags over the winter season, meaning both hotels are closed. Can't get near the places to see exactly what is happening, but we know there are 'office workers' still there.
  • Golf course is still be worked on even though it is closed until next Spring. It would be fabulous if they started another course too, but it doesn't look likely at this stage.
  • RT1 - Magnum has finished actual construction and furnishing and awaiting paperwork for people to complete on certain blocks as far as I am aware.
  • V1, V2 and V3 are also finished and have a few people living/renting them out.
  • Oasis, is still exactly as it has been for the past 18 months. Nothing has moved except for the tumbleweed and shifting sands.
  • AP14, 15 & 16 - The Greens are also almost completed...
  • VVT4 has had the ground works completed. Sifted, rolled, sifted and rolled again. Looks perfect for a beach volley ball court now.
  • VVT10 was used this past summer as a 'Resort' for Bank Populaire staff holidays. It looks great from the outside, and I understand that the people that were fortunate enough to stay here were very happy with their holiday.
  • AP8, AP5, AP3, RT7 and RT2 have had the external shells put in place and painted and are awaiting finance to continue.
  • The Marina and Medina are pretty much completed and just require a few more tenants.
  • There is very little 'work' actually taking place, just the bare minimum, here and there. Finishing properties internally mainly. RT2- Oct08 RT2 - December 2008. No change to date

    Alongside are some photos of RT2 - in October 2008. These pictures may as well have been taken this morning. Nothing has changed.

    The AP6 kittens are getting bigger by the day, and are very boisterous when playing. I wonder if they will still be here when we get back ?

    I will still be writing the blog from Cape Town, but the information will be coming from our sources on the ground here in Saidia instead of me personally.
